| RUBY DEE & THE SNAKEHANDLERS (US) THE ROOVERS (D) Roots, Americana, Rockabilly & Rock'n'Roll http://www.myspace.com/rubydeeandthesnakehandlers http://www.myspace.com/roovers w/ Record Hop mit Rollin Uppercut DJ Team Einlass: 20 Uhr Beginn: 22 Uhr RUBY DEE - Austin, Texas — Ruby Dee and The Snakehandlers, the four-piece high-octane Americana roots and rockabilly band led by gutsy songwriter-vocalist Ruby Dee, will be touring its long-awaited live CD release, LIVE FROM AUSTIN TEXAS, across Europe this April and May, kicking off the tour with a going away show at their favorite hometown haunt, the world famous Continental Club, followed by the Good Rockin’ Tonight Festival in France with Wanda Jackson, and ending with the Walldorf Weekender in Germany at the end of May. LIVE FROM AUSTIN TEXAS is a snapshot of Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers’ metamorphosis from the Pacific Northwest to Austin, and all the changes that move brought to the band’s lineup and resulting sound. This now-Austin based roots and rockabilly combo plays an Americana that encompasses Texas honky tonk, Northwest alt-country, Bakersfield twang, Memphis rockabilly, Western swing and good old fashioned rock’n’roll. Produced by Jorge Harada and Brendon Bigelow of Two Hoots and a Holler, LIVE FROM AUSTIN TEXAS is a collection of some previously released tunes in that jumpin’ and rockin’ honky tonk style for which Ruby Dee and the Snakehandlers are so well known, as well as a few unreleased tunes to appease the bands many fans out there. With front woman singer/songwriter Ruby Dee Philippa and guitarist Jorge Harada backed by native Texan Jordan Teitelbaum on drums and hep cat Kevin Fox (of Deuce Coupe) on doghouse bass, this series of recordings from the Continental Club and classic Texas honky tonk Roadhouse Rags puts the band squarely in the center of what makes Texas music so satisfying to the soul.
