Vom Zwei-Mann-Projekt zur Band, von "Pneuma" zu "Waves". Nach zwei selbst veröffentlichten EP´s erschien mit "Pneuma" 2008 das erste Album von Moving Mountains, damals noch das Projekt von Sänger und Gitarrist Gregory Dunn und Schlagzeuger Nicholas Pizzolato.

Mit der Zeit und den entsprechenden Touren wuchs die Band zum Quartett zusammen, das von Mitchell Lee und Frank Graniero komplettiert wird.

Zu viert veröffentlichten nun die New Yorker Moving Mountains via Make My Day Records am 29. Juli 2011 ihr zweites Album. "Waves" klingt in der Tat mehr nach Band, die hallenden Gitarren sind nicht verschwunden, auch wenn das Post- mit dem neuen Album einen Schritt vom Rock zum Hardcore wandert. Hier treffen wunderschöne Melodien auf melancholische Vocals. Atmosphärische Parts komplettieren das Bild. Freunde von Dredg, Further Seems Forever und Thrice/Thursday dürften Luftsprünge machen.

Eine neue EP namens "New Light" wird am April 24 via Triple Crown Records erscheinen.

“I suddenly wake up in a hot balloon over a valley. Down there, I see these five young guys in their woolen shirts creating a twisted collage with colorful materials and wild imagination. Mountains in the middle of the fog turn into massive walls of echoes and tunes float onwards naturally like a piece of wood in a river. I feel how the afterglow of the sun breaths in a melancholic sound of the trumpet while the shining moon reveals little details which I didn’t recognize a moment ago. Everything is somehow upside down and I can only guess what will happen next. Looks like calmness just waits for the furious storm before it’s time to start over again. I have a strong feeling this is something unique. This is something where art rock and dream pop collapse. Fusing dreamy soundscapes Sigur Rós and colossal crescendos of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, fierce horn themes of Neutral Milk Hotel plus hazy aesthetics of Slowdive and The Radio Dept., this group – making their music not far from Polar zone – surely sounds unique.

During their few years of existence, Neufvoin have toured all over the Finland and shared the stage with Architecture In Helsinki, Disco Ensemble, Rubik and Magenta Skycode. Their two releases, Robokop EP (2009) and Fake Musket EP (2010), have been highly praised in Finnish music media and they have been nominated as one of the most promising Finnish bands by music business professionals. Right now, the New Music Community based sextet is making a big step forward while their debut album is about to come out in the near future.”
