Mile Me Deaf:

Mile Me Deaf are delivering fuzzy lo-fi tunes with a quirky twist without taking themselves all too serious. The Line Of Best Fit rewarded Mile Me Deaf’s debut with 8.5 out 10, stating: “ [mastermind] Wolfgang Möstl is the genius you’ve never heard of. No matter how hip with the buzz-blogs you are, there’s a good chance the Austrian lo-fi noise-fuzz indiepop scene was missed, which is almost criminal.” In fact Wolfgang is not a total newcomer. As the head of Killed by 9V Batteries and member of Sex Jams he has been dedicated to a DIY driven noisy lo-fi sound with an undeniable 90s appeal for quite a bit, turning him into a key figure in Vienna’s throbbing underground scene. For “Hologaphy” Mile Me Deaf have been reaching out across genres to work with techno producer Patrick Pulsinger, who has recently been recording with Hercules and Love Affair or Patrick Wolf in his Vienna studio. On the album cover one finds Peggy Bundy, Hunter S. Thompson, Sky Ferreira, Macho Man Randy Savage, Syd Barrett, the physician Leonard Susskind and many more posing in a diorama of escapism along with the band members themselves. “I am bored to death with reality”, Wolfgang reveals in the quite amusingly written track by track liner notes which also disclose a certain playful obsession with trash television, long gone starlets, odd conspiracy theories and the ideas of quantum mechanics that openly question our perception of the world itself. Musically “Holography” is a versatile album, mingling easy-going pop melodies with eruptive noise elements in a somewhat Flaming Lips, Ween or Yo La Tengo kind of manner.
